Our logo, inspired by the Bove family crest from Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, symbolizes our mission at Above Wines. The bull, adorned with a king’s crown, represents strength and heritage, while the added grape cluster signifies our dedication to protecting Italy’s ancient grape varietals and supporting small, family-run vineyards.
At Above Wines, our commitment to quality is unwavering. Every wine in our portfolio is selected through a meticulous process that begins with a comprehensive enological analysis, ensuring that only wines with the highest standards of excellence are considered. Following this, each wine undergoes a sensory evaluation to assess its flavor profile and its true representation of the terroir from which it originates. Only wines that meet our stringent criteria are approved for our portfolio.
The selection process is not just about quality; it’s a journey of discovery and tradition. We build strong relationships with family producers, explore the unique customs of each region, and oversee every step of the winemaking process. This deep connection to Italy’s winemaking culture is what drives us to create engaging events and experiences, allowing you to connect with our team and truly understand the story behind each wine.
Preserving Italy’s Noble Winemaking Tradition
With a degree in Enology and Viticulture, Aldo hails from Angri, near Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Aldo's family’s noble roots trace back to the House of Bove in Ravello, part of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, with their coat of arms displayed in Ravello's Duomo.
In 2017, Aldo moved to the U.S. to bring the authentic essence of Italian winemaking. His time on the East Coast revealed the limited diversity of American winemaking compared to Italy's rich traditions.
Drawing on his family's expertise from Maremma Toscana, London, and the Amalfi Coast, Aldo founded Above Wines with a bold vision: to be an ambassador for Italy’s terroir and inspire others to explore its extraordinary grapes. As Aldo says, "Italy’s grapes are endless treasures, and it’s time the world woke up to them."
